Bangor Theological Seminary (1814-2013) was a Congregationalist seminary located in Bangor, Maine, and Portland, Maine. It produced a signficant number of missionaries in the 19th and early 20th centuries, and amassed a sizable collection of missions-related books during this period.
The Boston University School of Theology Library acquired the missions collection from Bangor Theological Seminary in 2007. Focusing primarily on Congregationalist and Baptist classic works in the American Protestant missionary tradition, this acquisition greatly complemented the existing collection of Methodist missions titles for a broader and ecumenically inclusive Missions Collection. The Bangor Theological Seminary collection holds over 900 works, with a wide range of material including tracts, sermons, biographies, and journals.
