Library Resources and Services for Social Work Faculty and Instructors

This guide will help you locate the many resources in the BU collections related to your teaching, research, and publications.

Course Reserves

Reserves are library materials (including physical and electronic books, audio/visual materials, journal articles, media, and electronic resources) selected by a faculty member to support course instruction.

A guide is dedicated to Course Reserves and Leganto, available here.

Scanning Services

Place books, articles, and other readings on electronic reserve for your students using the Place Items on Reserves form or the Faculty Scanning Requests form.

Leganto

Leganto is Boston University's course reserve management tool. Some benefits of using Leganto are:

  1. Easy to create, maintain, and reuse class reading lists.
  2. Connects easily with library resources, allowing course materials to be seamlessly delivered to students.
  3. Leganto is user-friendly and students can easily access reading lists for their classes.
  4. Analytics are available, making it easy to monitor and assess usage of reading lists.
  5. Using Leganto helps avoid copyright infringement. Since the library will be involved, we can help ensure that the most appropriate copy of a resource is being used in your reading lists.
  6. Having readings available on resource limits financial obstacles to academic success.

Place Materials on Reserve

Instructors can place books, articles, and other materials on reserve for their students using the Place Items on Reserves form. This form can be used for all library materials, both physical and electronic.
