CFA School of Theatre is a nationally recognized program, with all the opportunities of a larger liberal arts university right at your fingertips. We believe each student is unique and should be able to pursue their individual interests while receiving strong foundational techniques within the art form.

Founded in 1981 by Nobel Laureate Derek Walcott, Boston Playwrights’ Theatre is an award-winning professional theatre dedicated specifically to new works for the stage. At the core of our five programs is our MFA in Playwriting, offered as part of Boston University’s renowned English Department and in collaboration with the School of Theatre.

Wheelock Family Theatre at Boston University creates inter-generational and multicultural productions that provide a shared experience for the whole family. Our productions celebrate the diverse range of families found in the world today and seek to unite them in the shared experience of live theatre.
