The law comes from many sources, including Statutes, Common Law, and Administrative Law. When researching a new Bill, existing Statute, or a case involving a Statute, look at both the actual statute and its legislative history. Common law is judge-made law, so any time your research leads you to precedent, consider looking up the opinions themselves, rather than relying on news reports alone. Almost all businesses and industries are regulated extensively by government agencies. All agencies have websites with extensive information available on their regulations. The news often discusses agency regulation of industry and business.
