LA245: Introduction to Law

Intellectual Property

Intellectual Property is an important topic for all businesses. Whether it is a battle between technology giants over a patent, or a small business fighting to keep its trademarked name, there are many avenues for research concerning Intellectual Property. First, always check the government sources, including the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s website. Second, there is often media coverage of intellectual property disputes. Third, different industries face unique intellectual property challenges, so your research should include industry sources. Finally, there are several think tanks and organizations that work on specific intellectual property issues, such as the Berkman Center for Internet & Society. Just remember that many of these organizations are expressing opinions regarding the topic.
