Turkish Studies @ BU
The Islamic Rare Book Collections, Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center
The book collections of these five scholars combine to create a strong holding of most fields of Islamic culture and science of Central Asia and, to a lesser degree, the Middle East, especially Iran and Turkey. Texts, both primary and secondary, are in the Arabic, Iranian, and Turkic languages. These collections were acquired by Boston University to provide sources for research by scholars and students in these fields.
Muslim Studies Program
The Muslim Studies Program at CURA came into CURA in 2019, from its earlier iteration: the Institute for the Study of Muslim Societies and Civilizations. The Muslim Studies Program reflects the university’s long-standing commitment to the advancement of scholarship of the Muslim world. The Program acts as an interdisciplinary meeting point for scholars and researchers in diverse fields – ranging from anthropology, history, religion, politics, literature, language, and the arts – across the regions in which Muslims live – from the Americas to Europe, the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia.
