Beyond the BU Libraries

The BU Libraries are proud to be a part of a wider network of libraries that enable you to obtain scholarly articles, books, and book chapters from area libraries. Here is a list of the options and resources that are available to you as a member of the BU community:

  • Terrier Card Borrowing: We have an agreement with the Northeastern Libraries, Boston College, and Brandeis University that allows you to use your BU Terrier Card to visit these libraries and borrow books.
  • The Boston Library Consortium: The Boston Library Consortium  is a network of academic and research libraries in New England. You can get a free Boston Library Consortium (BLC) Card that will allow you to visit and borrow books from any of these libraries. Visit the Mugar Library Services Desk to apply for a BLC card.
  • Reciprocal Faculty Library Program: BU participates in the SHARES Libraries program and OCLC's reciprocal borrowing program. These two programs allow faculty member to visit and borrow materials from libraries around the country. Please visit the libraries administrative office at Mugar to learn more and get borrowing cards.
  • Interlibrary Loan: BU's free interlibrary loan service allows you to request articles, books, and book chapters from other libraries.
