Anthropological Responses to Health Emergencies (ARHE)
Anthropological Responses to Health Emergencies (ARHE) is a Special Interest Group of the Society for Medical Anthropology. The purpose of the group is to network among members to be able to rapidly respond to developing public health issues and emergencies.
Society for Medical Anthropology
"The Society for Medical Anthropology (SMA) of the American Anthropological Association was founded in 1971 to promote the study of anthropological aspects of health, illness, health care, and related topics and to encourage communication and utilization of the results obtained from such studies."
Society for the History of Medicine
Since its inaugural meeting in 1970, the Society for the Social History of Medicine (SSHM) has pioneered inter-disciplinary approaches to the history of health, welfare, medical science and practice. Consequently, its membership consists of those interested in a variety of disciplines, including history, public health, demography, anthropology, sociology, social administration and health economics.

H-MedAnthro addresses the needs and concerns of medical anthropology graduate students, practicing anthropologists, scholars, and scholar activists who address issues of local, national and international health importance. This network and its accompanying web sites form the hub of an active research community and a storehouse for information supporting the endeavors of medical anthropologists and their colleagues in allied social science fields.
EthnoMed
EthnoMed contains information about cultural beliefs, medical issues and related topics pertinent to the health care of immigrants to Seattle or the US, many of whom are refugees fleeing war-torn parts of the world.
