Requesting Items from the BU Libraries & Beyond

The BU Libraries are committed to providing distance education students with the highest quality of service. Here is a summary of the services that we provide:

  • A growing collection of online books and journals.
  • Scan selected chapters of our print books and deliver them to you electronically through our online request forms.
  • Scan copies of articles that are only available through print journals. Use our online request forms to request a scanned copy of an article.

Two important tips:

  1. The first time you use our interlibrary loan service, you will be asked to register as a BU user. When you fill out the registration form, you will be asked to designate your library service unit. This is the BU Library that serves you. Mugar Memorial Library serves the OTD students. Make sure to select Mugar Memorial Library  (not the Alumni Medical Library) as your service unit.
  2. Whenever you send an e-mail or fill out a request form, it is helpful to identify yourself as an off-site student. This ensures that we provide you with the right kind of service.

How Can I Help?

Thanks to technology, it has never been easier to get research assistance from a distance. In order to make your online research easier I can assist with any of the following:

  • Guide you through a database search over Zoom.
  • E-mail you research tips and include screen shots that illustrate how to do an online search.
  • Troubleshoot any problems you may have accessing our online resources.
  • Locate the full-text of a journal article.

I look forward to working with you!
