Evidence-Based Practice Resources

Acknowledgements

Welcome!

This guide is geared for allied health & rehabilitation students. It will provide you with introductory overviews of EBP, and sources of research that inform evidence-based practice.

Please see my contact information on the right if I can help you in-person, by e-mail, or via chat. I look forward to helping you track down evidence!

What is Evidence-Based Practice?

According to Dr. David Sackett, EBP is “the conscientious, explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care of the individual patient. It means integrating individual clinical expertise with the best available external clinical evidence from systematic research” (Sackett D, 1996).

Professional Associations

Many professional associations have websites that feature authoritative information on evidence-based practice. The websites listed here may be especially relevant to Sargent students.
