Who Are the Older Adults Living in Poverty?

The National Council on Aging in June 2024 updated their fact sheet on economic security for seniors with measures, statistics, income, debt, and demographic information.

The recent U.S. government census concluded that: "In 2021, roughly 8% of the nation’s population age 65 and over lived in poverty. These older adults had different demographic and social characteristics than adults in this age group who were not in poverty."
