• You can search for the journal title in our BU Libraries Search catalog and filter to "journals." Click on "Find in library" to see if we own the volume you need. [If it is an article in an edited volume (book), you only need to search for the title of that volume as though it were a book.]
• To request articles or book chapters, please sign into ILLiad and place an article or book chapter request. Include as much information as possible about the volume, chapter, and/or pagination that you need scanned. Please be aware of copyright restrictions and only request one complete article/chapter from a volume, or less than 10% of the volume's total pages.
• Articles and book chapters of physical items that BU owns are the easiest thing we can send via document delivery. If you only need one section of a book, please only request that section. Since we can scan these and send them electronically, they will arrive much faster (1-2 days instead of 1-2 weeks) than a book.

Even if BU doesn't have an electronic copy of the article, or a physical copy of the journal, we can still request the article for you from another library. Simply follow the same step from the document delivery box above, including any and all the information you have from the article's citation, and we will track it down for you. In most cases it will still arrive in 1-2 business days.

• Can you get to BU? Come on in! Your BU ID is your library card at all BU libraries. Loan periods are 133 days and you get 2 renewals.

• Is it difficult to get to BU? Send us a quick email (sthlib@bu.edu or sbattles@bu.edu) within a week of your visit so that we can put that book on the holdshelf for you. Great times to do this: the week before your on-campus courses, as well as any other time you might be in Boston.

• Is it impossible to get to BU? No worries. You can either treat this like a book that BU doesn't have, and check out Step 2, or you can request the BU copy through Document Delivery in our ILLiad software at http://www.bu.edu/sthlibrary/ill/. Once you set up your free ILLiad account, we will route the request for your book into Document Delivery, and mail the book to you. Please note that you are responsible for returning the book to us.
