Comparison Reports

A Comparison Report allows you to compare companies against each other in three ways: 1) comparing the company against the wider industry, 2) comparing two or more specific companies in a customized group, and 3) comparing the company against a list of competitors, as designated by Mergent.

Compare Company Against Industry

1. From Report Builder, select Comparison Reports.

A red box identifies the "Comparison Report" option.2. Choose the peer group to which you want to compare your company. You can group by primary NAICS or SIC, worldwide or USA only. 

"NAIC" and "Target country (USA)" identified on the Comparison Reporting Selection Screen.

3. Select the number of companies to include in the report. You may choose all, the top 10, 25, or 50.

4. Select Data Items:

  • Click on the plus sign next to an item to Expand List.
  • Select data item(s) then move them to the Report Items box by clicking on the arrow keys.
  • Include average (optional).
  • Select year(s).
  • Select format.
  • Click on “Create Report”.

Compare Company Against Custom Group

1. Select company by clicking the plus (+) sign to add company to the Company Analysis List.

2. Use the "Change Company" search box (top right of page) to find comparison companies.

3. Click on the company match.

4. Add the second business to your Company Analysis List by clicking the plus (+) sign. You may repeat this and add up to 500 companies.

5. Access the Company Analysis list under the My Mergent Tools drop-down menu.

6. From the Company Analysis List box use the arrow keys to select your companies.

7. At the top of the screen, select "Multiple Company Report". From the Select Data Items box, click the plus (+) sign to expand the list. Use the arrow keys to move the data into the Report Items box. Once you have all the information you want to include, select a report format and download the information.

8. Alternatively, select "Company Comparison Report". As above, use the arrows to move the information you wish to include into the Report Items box. When done, select a report format and download.

Compare Company Against Competitors

  1. From the company profile, select “Competitors”.

  1. Click “Add All to Company Analysis List”.

  1. This will open a new window in “My Mergent Tools”. Set it to “Company Comparison Report” at the top of the screen.

  1. Use the arrows to move the companies and items of comparison you wish to include into your report. Once you have everything, select your desired format and download the comparison report.
