LA245: Introduction to Law

Torts

Many businesses face tort liability for their actions. Although there is often media coverage of intentional torts cases, such as defamation, negligence is a common legal issue for most businesses. When researching a negligence case, consider regulation of the industry or company, a public company’s filings with the SEC about the case, agency regulations regarding recalls, as well as news reports. Whenever researching a torts case or issue, consider the arguments around tort reform by looking at websites and reading articles by various watchdog groups. Just remember that most blogs are expressing an opinion.
