Business Tutorial: Data Axle Reference Solutions

What is NAICS?

The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is a standard for classifying businesses used by the statistical agencies of Canada, Mexico, and the United States. It is used to collect and analyze data about the economies of these three countries.

Data Axle Reference Solutions has the capacity to search by NAICS code, as do other databases like IBISWorld and Mergent Online.

NAICS codes are arranged as a hierarchy. The first two digits indicate a major economic sector, and then each digit gets more specific.
