About Survey of Italian Wine
This guide provides selective course-specific resources for MET ML704: Survey of Italian Wine
Featured Resource
The Search for the True Chianti (Bill Nesto talk)For most of the twentieth century, the name Chianti brought to mind a generic Italian red table wine in a straw-covered flask, rather than evoking the storied wine region in the heart of Tuscany. Bill Nesto and Frances Di Savino, co-authors of Chianti Classico: The Search for Tuscany’s Noblest Wine, will share the story of their quest to discover the true Chianti.
They will describe the evolution of Chianti as a wine region with historic, cultural, and geographic complexity, then guide guests through a tasting of wines from one of Chianti Classico’s iconic estates.
Featured Resource: Amerine (Maynard) Wine Label Collection
Amerine (Maynard) Wine Label Collection, UC Davis LibraryIncludes labels from domestic and foreign wines and spirits. Most labels date between 1874-1969, though some date as late as 1992. In 1935, Amerine was hired by the fledgling University of California, Davis’ newly formed Department of Viticulture and Enology to help establish a solid technical foundation for the California wine industry
