About This Guide

Capstone groups are researching a wide variety of topics in 2018. The BU Libraries provide resources to help with research at every step along the way. These include:

  • Encyclopedias and dictionaries

  • Company and industry information

More importantly, the guide tells you how to find sources of information that will be useful to your groups no matter which topics you choose. It also includes tips for research, information about group meeting spaces, and instructions about how to get research help from BU Librarians.

Organization of the Guide

The guide consists of the following pages:

  • Guides & Databases by Subject: Learn how to find and use research guides and databases on specific subject area.
  • Find Background Information: Gather background information to frame or refine your topic and to provide context for readers of your report.
  • Find Books: Identify books and ebooks available from the Boston University Libraries via BU Libraries Search (BULS).
  • Find News: Locate current and historic print and broadcast news coverage beyond what's freely available on the Web.
  • Find Scholarly Literature: Identify peer-reviewed articles from scholarly journals in many disciplines.
  • Find Government Information: Find data and other information from U.S., local, and international government sources.
  • Evaluating Sources: Learn how to evaluate information sources efficiently and effectively for your research needs.
  • Group Study Spaces: Find spaces in Mugar and other BU Libraries that you can use for group meetings.
  • Finding Materials Not at BU: See options for obtaining books and articles from other libraries.
  • Citing Your Sources: Help with citation management and citation styles.
  • Getting Help: Get help with any of these areas or with any research topic from BU librarians.
